Due to the Covid-19 virus, I have to cancel all my travel plan. As Singapore's hotels are running at low capacity, most hotels have come up with Staycation promotion to attract locals. I am spoilt for choice as there are several very attractive Staycation deals. I decided to stay at Royal Plaza on Scotts as it is having "A Duckling Good Time For School Break" package during the March holiday for Singaporean whereby the 1st room can be book at $168++ and 2nd room at $88++. This works out to $301 nett for 2 rooms which is very attractive. My ex-colleague is keen on this deal so we will be sharing the 2 rooms. Furthermore, the stay includes:
- Upgrade to Premier Room
- Breakfast buffet
- Access to Premier Lounge
- 30% off Carousel lunch and dinner buffet
We reached Royal Plaza on Scotts around 1pm although the check in time is 2pm. We queued for about 15min before it's our turn to check in. The check in counters are operating at full capacity and yet it still took us quite a while to check in as guests are checking out at the same time. We were given key to one room as the other room is not ready yet. Luckily we check in earlier as we saw the endless queue when we came down again at 2pm to collect the key for another room.

As I have requested for a quieter room, we were assign rooms at the far end of the corridor. Our room faces the Claymore Plaza so there is no view to enjoy at all. The premier room is quite spacious and there is an espresso machine with 3 espresso capsules. We tried the coffee and I dislike it cos it was so bitter.

I prefer the shower area and the bathtub area to be separated. I don't use hotel bathtub nowadays as I find that it's unhygienic since it was previously used by so many guests.

After we left our belongings in the hotel room, we went to the swimming pool and gym. The swimming pool is considered small and the deepest is at 2.1m.

The gym here is quite small with at most 10 equipments. Due to the implementation of social distancing, alternate treadmill was cordoned off. WB and I spent about an hour in the afternoon sweating our calories here.

The Premier Lounge is located on the 25th floor and is from open from 7am to 10pm. Well, I thought this staycation was a bargain as it includes access to the lounge but turns out that it's empty promise since hot food and cocktails are no longer available at the lounge.

We returned back to our room and rested till check out time. I heard from my ex-colleague who went to take a look at the swimming pool and gym after breakfast that both crowded. We checked out at around 1pm and there was no queue at the counters.
